Dear Friends

It is through God’s grace that I am writing you this letter.  I know and believe that someone was praying for me on Wednesday night when we were traveling in the Jeep to the Children’s Village in Sinoe County.  We had an accident which the jeep which is beyond repair. The jeep flipped over three times and the face of the jeep was mashed in. It was a miracle from God that I am still alive.  There were 9 persons in the jeep, that includes three kids (ages 1, 2, 2-1/2 years).  I have no idea how anyone could survive the accidence if it has not been for God.  It would have been the end of my life, but I believe that God still needs me for His work here in Liberia. The only thing that happened with two of those onboard was just a little cut on their faces.  I took them to the Catholic Hospital in Buchanan, Grand Bassa, where they were treated and discharged.  So everything is fine, but the jeep is no longer useful and cannot be repaired.  I was not able to call from where the accident took place so I had to get into Buchanan before I could call Monrovia.  Most of what I was carrying has transferred into the blue bus that was sent by Skipper to Sinoe to carry the truck key starter, school uniforms/supplies and the fuel for the truck.

The cause of the accident was that the jeep driver (Mr. Elijah) bounced in a hole that caused the back spring to break and he lost control of the wheel that caused the jeep to flip over three times.  This was his first accident in over twenty years of his driving experience.

Praise the Lord, that my wife and children (Shadrach and Gertrude are expecting their second child in May) still have a husband and father and that the Liberia Ministry is still alive.

Dear Friends,

It seems that the challenge of reaching the outlying areas of Liberia for Christ is almost too big to handle at times.  We’ve had a few setbacks over the past few months that cause us to wonder if it’s really worth the trouble.  Certainly this is one of those times when we lose the only vehicle which is really capable of making the very rough trip to the Children’s Village.

Each time frustration sets in and I start to wonder if it’s really worth it, all I have to do is think of the children who have a school to attend, orphans who have a place to sleep and food to eat, pastors who are being taught the truth of God’s word so that they can teach it to their members and approximately 350 Liberians who have been taught to share the wonderful news of salvation with others.

I’m not one that blames everything that happens on Satan but I’m sure that he would rather not have the work for Christ that is being done continue.  Our suffering is really quite small compared to many Christians around the world.  Although it may require some of us to dig deeper to replace this asset, I doubt that any of us will miss a meal, live without electricity or see our children miss out on an education.

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Matthew 22:36-39

I guess the real question here is do I love my neighbor as myself?  If so, I’ll make sure that they have food to eat, a Christian education, medical care and the other things that I would not allow my family to go without.

Below are some of the pictures that were taken on the since of the accidence.

First of all, praise God that no one was seriously injured in the accident.
